Welcome to
Simiyu Climate Resilience Project

Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Simiyu Climate Resilience Project (SCRP).

This website keeps you updated with the latest information regarding the implementation of the project whose main objective is to increase the resilience of rural and urban households living in the Simiyu Region against the expected impact of climate change and to improve government policies and regulations towards improved climate change adaptation.

The focus of the SCRP is on water supply, small-scale irrigation, climate-adapted agriculture practices, and sanitation and hygiene practices. The aim is to improve the supply of drinking water for three urban settlements (Nyashimo, Bariadi, and Lagangabilili) and additionally for 50% of the rural population living in a 24-km wide corridor of land (12 km on both sides of the main pipeline) in Busega, Bariadi and Itilima districts. The envisaged investments include a bulk water supply system with a pump station, water treatment plant, main transmission pipeline, one command reservoir, and 5 primary reservoirs. Additionally, an urban water supply system comprising 6,000 private taps, 4,000 house connections, and 70 public taps.
